SAS has announced the release of SAS 9.4 M7

Applications in the SAS® 9.4 platform – as well as many SAS® solutions that are based on SAS 9.3 and SAS 9.4 – used Adobe Flash Player to provide interactive user interfaces. Adobe announced that it intends to move its Flash technology to end-of- life status, and it will cease to update and distribute the Flash Player at the end of 2020. Most browser vendors already included security warnings for users of Flash content, disabled Flash by default in 2019, and are expected to remove support for Flash completely in 2020 to match the end-of-life direction that is stated by Adobe

When? Adobe will continue issuing regular Flash Player security patches, maintain OS and browser compatibility and add features and capabilities as determined by Adobe through the end of 2020.

Adobe will be removing Flash Player download pages from its site and Flash-based content will be blocked from running in Adobe Flash Player after the EOL Date.Adobe always recommends using the latest, supported and up to date software. Customers should not use Flash Player after the EOL Date since it will not be supported by Adobe.

Now?
SAS recommends that customers with SAS products that map directly to comparable offerings on the SAS® Viya® platform should modernize their respective SAS environments by upgrading to SAS Viya.
Customers who have a mix of SAS products with and without comparable offerings on SAS Viya can choose to upgrade their SAS environments to SAS 9.4M6 (TS1M6).
What does this mean for me and my SAS installation?
The removal of Adobe flash support means that SAS 9.4 M5 backwards is no longer supported by SAS and requires customers to upgrade as soon as possible
